Friendships and Independence Training

24 local people associated with children with Down’s Syndrome in Andover and the local area attended our friendly training on 6 November.

The two hour session focussed on helping children with Down’s Syndrome develop independence in everyday activities. Becky Baxter, from LETS Go!, spoke for 2 hours about supporting friendships, using school support staff effectively and how to create opportunities to develop social strengths. The training was well attended by local parents of children with Down’s Syndrome and teaching staff from local schools and pre-schools. Participants left with lots of ideas regarding how to work with the children in their care.

We have two more training sessions coming soon focussing on Developing Literacy Skills and Developing Numeracy Skills. See our events calendar for further information. Andover Twenty1 training sessions are free to attend but we do ask attendees to pre-register.
